I thought I saw...It's Write on Wednesday

I have to admit it. I enjoyed last week's return to the 5 minute exercise. I find a certain amount of freedom in the timed exercises and to be honest, I don't think I would have got to last week's prompt if it was not a 5 minute stream of consciousness exercise. Besides I think the prompt produced some wonderful pieces, my favorites from  JenniferStella Orbit and Jayne.

I hope you will all forgive me but I have decided to stick with the 5 minute exercise for the next few weeks. NaNoWriMo will soon be keeping me busy and I thought it would be best to keep WoW simple for now.  Also, I like the creativity that comes from the timed exercises and think they  make a handy cure for writers' block -  I just don't have the time for writers' block at the moment!

How does that sound to you?

The Write On Wednesday Rules: Get creative with the writing exercises - there isn't a right or wrong. Please do try to visit the other members of Write On Wednesdays and leave a comment of support and constructive criticism.

Write On Wednesdays Exercise 20 - Write the words " I thought I saw" at the top of your page. Set a timer for 5 minutes. Write the first words that come into your head after the prompt. Don't take you pen off the page (or fingers off the keyboard). Stop only when the buzzer rings! Do this exercise over and over if you wish. Write beyond 5 minutes if you like, you can link it up as an extra post.

Oh yay! This fits in well with my NaNoWriMo project! I really enjoyed the free creativity of the exercise last week, too ;).

I like the idea of sticking with the 5-minute writes. I'm going to be attempting Nanowrimo too. :)

I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with in the weeks ahead.

:)

I'm struggling this week Gill. If I don't come up with something better you may just get my very bad attempt at poetry! :)

Great exercise. I think I will get to it soon...The first thing that came to mind was "I thought I saw a pussy cat" but that's obviously taken. I will have to think on this and come up with something really good!

I think to revival the 5 minute thing is great. So there is no excuse for me not be part this week.

Stream of consciousness is always the best, wish I could participate in nanowrimo but exams are spoiling that idea

Really enjoyed this exercise. I went to a place that I didn't think I would go. LOL.
Looking forward to reading everyone's pieces.

Last week was one of my favourites. I loved writing it and I loved reading all the other pieces - how one little sentence can go in so many different directions.

On with this week's piece and NaNo planning.

I hope you find time to write again because I like your blog a lot! It's good you started the 5 minutes exercise. Good luck!

Not sure what happened to my post - it became corrupt so I've removed the link.

I will try to either re-write or write something else.

Creative writing on my blog is all very new for me so a 5 minute toe dip is perfect, not too daunting.

I'm back, not sure I did so well with it as I'm just getting back into the swing of things after being sick for a while and taking a bloggy break, and now having almost crippling anxiety but knowing I need to get in the swing of things if I want to get back into this. I'm glad it was something workable for me. I just hope it wasn't too terrible! First linkup in ~1 month.... =/

I really like the stream of conscious exercises as well. I will also be participating in NaNoWriMo. I just need a topic!

I made it :)
I like the idea of the 5min approach for the coming weeks, it will help me to fit it in and around other projects. I too am hoping to do NaNoWriMo - today is planing, planning, planning!
