The Dialogue Detective exercise was lots of fun. I know many of us found it difficult, both in finding time to play detective but also in the exercise itself. So, I especially loved reading the post and comments over at Stella Orbit's Blog.
It made me think hard about listening. And I think this is the point of the exercise, I am not tuned in to the writerly frequency. The one where you eavesdrop consciously and deliberately on dialogue. This is my homework. Stella OrbitWriterly Frequency. I adore this. For me, this is the point of Write On Wednesdays. To tune in. To practice. Without it we can't get better. It IS homework. This week I think we will go for an exercise that doesn't require (unless you fancy it, of course) any stealth missions. You may have come across this exercise before. I think it has featured in every writing workshop I have ever been to!
The Write On Wednesdays Rules: First of all, I am not a big fan of rules. Feel free to get creative with the writing exercises - there is no right or wrong. But please do try to visit the other members of Write On Wednesdays. You can grab the button for Write On Wednesdays if you fancy doing so.
Write On Wednesdays Exercise 3 - I remember: Write "I remember" at the top of your page. Set a timer for 5 minutes. Use "I remember" as your prompt and write down the first words that come into your head for 5 minutes. Stop when the buzzer rings! Do this exercise over and over if you wish. I will try to do it every morning this week. I'll let you know how I go...I am hoping that the thought of having to tell you all about my progress will be the motivation I need to keep at it!
Things to think about:
- If you would like the other members of W.O.W to give you some criticism on your writing pieces feel free to mention this at the end of your post. It would help if you can specifically pinpoint the areas for feedback. For example, you might want comments on your use of language or you might want to know if it is worth extending on an idea that comes from your piece. We are all taking part in W.O.W for different reasons so this may be more important to some of us.
- This is a learning process for me too. I started W.O.W because I wanted to get better at writing. I don't have all the answers so please contact me with your ideas and comments
- This is not supposed to be hard, make it fun.

I'm guessing it was ok not to wait until Wednesday to post something. With 5 minutes to myself this morning, this was what I remembered. It was nice to be transported back for a little while :)

Monday is great for me. I work Mon & Wed, so having some time to see what the exercise is before hand helps. :)
I missed last week, but I'm back! Thanks again for running WoW. :-)
I am out again this week with this flu/ now sinis infection. Maybe next week
xx
I'm jumping in now with both feet. Looking forward to getting my blog chugging along with some "proper" writing. Thanks for the inspiration. I've been looking for it lately.
My second 'Iremember' of the week, a bittersweet memory this time.
Hi Gill! Just uploaded my entry for this week.
Sorry I didn't join in last week. As I told you, I came down with that bad coughing virus that my son had. I'm still coughing but feel a little better.
Looking forward to next week!
Anne xx
I not sure if I could say this was one I totally enjoyed, I had mixed emotions whilst I was writing.
But certainly glad for the opportunity.
Thanks
